Nhl Stanley Cup Finals
Hey everyone,
Sorry I haven't been able to update my blog lately. I've had a lot of stuff going on at home lately, my prom , my job, and every other little thing that comes up. But I'm here to finish what I started. The Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Conference finals ended with Philadelphia on top in the East and CHICAGO ( MY TEAM :) ) in the West.
Game 1 was Saturday May 29th. The first game between the supposed two best teams in the league showed a big lack in defence. 11 goals between the two teams with the Hawks coming out on top with a 6-5 win on a winning goal by Chris Versteeg with 5 minutes left in the third period. The game showed that both teams are able to win this series because the lead was exchanged about 4 times throughout the game.
Game 2 went last night, and the game started off slow with neither team really hitting their target in the first. But in the second the Blackhawks put two in the back of the net. The Flyers tried to respond with 1 goal in the third but they could never find the equalizer. The Hawks took game 2 with a score of 2-1 and took a 2-0 Series lead. Game three goes wednesday night in Philadelphia where the Flyers are hoping to use their home ice to their advantage.
Anyways that's all for now, I will update after the next game

Nhl Conference finals
Hey everyone,
Sorry I haven't been able to blog lately. My schedule has been crazy. I am hoping though that I will be able to start up again. The second round of the playoffs showed us some very big upsets with Montreal Upsetting Pittsburgh in game 7 and Boston losing to Philadelphia in game 7 after being up 3-0 in that series. Chicago finished off Vancouver in game 6 and San Jose beat out Detroit in Game 5.
So now the conference finals go as final. In the Eastern Conference the match-up is Montreal vs. Philadelphia and after a "spanking" in game 1, the Canadians are down 1-0 in the series.
Over in the Western Conference, the San Jose Sharks are playing the Chicago Blackhawks. After being down in the first period of game 1, the Hawks managed to rally back for two goals and take the game 2-1 and taking the series lead 1-0. Game 2 for both conferences goes Tuesday.
That's all for now guys, I'm going to make my lover dinner then we are off to soccer. Have a good night everyone

Nhl Playoffs May 5th
Hey everyone,
So last night I spent my night watching hockey, I enjoyed both of the games on last night but was dissapointed by one of them. The Detroit vs. San Jose game was a very well played game by Detroit showing that having home ice advantage does mean something in the playoffs. They walked in to the game 100 times more energized then when they were in San Jose. The Joe Louis Arena was jam packed with fans from ice level all the way to the rafters. The engery there was incredible but they still could not manage a win and the Sharks gained a 3-0 advantage over them. It is very unlikely that the Wings will come back from this disadvantage but only time will tell. Game 4 goes Thursday May 6th at 7:30pm.
Now the game I am dissapointed with is the Montreal game. The Canadians played and amazing fourty minutes and then fell apart and lost 2-0 to make the series 2-1 for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Now don't get me wrong I am a huge Halak fan but his defence fell apart and he couldn't handle the whole load himself. I still am very happy with the play of Hal Gill shutting down Sidney Crosby the way he is. Hopefully they can tie the series up in game 4 which goes Thursday May 6th at 7pm.
I am now going to set the scene for tonight. Game 3 of the Flyers Bruins series goes tonight at 7pm in about 45 minutes time. Personally I think that the Boston Bruins are going to take game 3 because their play of late has been incredible, their depth through all 4 lines is incredible and their goalie has played amazing through out the whole playoffs. I think Boston will take a 2-1 series lead tonight. As of now the series is tied at 1-1.
For game 3 of the Vancouver Chicago series, I am unsure of the outcome. The Blackhawks proved the other night that they aren't going down without a fight. The depth in Chicago's lineup may show tonight. The Cannucs are at home tonight and I am not sure what that is going to mean yet but it will be interesting to watch. I am making a prediction and I think CHICAGO is going to win a close one tonight but we will have to see.
That's all for now, Dinner time :P

NHL HOCKEY
hey everyone.
I haven't been able to update my blog since saturday because I've been crazy busy. I realise that I don't have as much time for my blog anymore that with exams and all the comunity serive hours I'm trying to do. So for now I am going to drop my special Tuesday and Thursday topics and just focus on the playoffs for now and try to update it after every game.
So as it stands right now, in the Eastern Conference, the Montreal vs. Pittsburgh series is tied 1-1. They play game 3 tonight at 7:00pm. In the Boston vs. Philadelphia series, Boston have a nice 2-0 series lead and can take a stranglehold on it Wednesday at 7:00pm.
Now over in the West, The San Jose Sharks can take a huge lead over The Detroit Red Wings tonight in game three. The Sharks are up 2-0 in that series and have proven that they have the potential to dominate this series. Their only disadvantage is that they are playing at The Joe Louis Arena in Detroit tonight where the Wings have a very good record. It will be a good game for sure.
Now to update the biggest part of my NHL playoff blog. The Chicago Blackhawks rebounded from that horrible game one thumping to show that they aren't going down without a fight. The Hawks took game two evening up the series at 1-1. I think that they played a really good game, got in Roberto Luongo's face and just out played the Vancouver Canucks. Game 3 goes on Wednesday at 9:30pm Eastern time in Vancouver. It will be interesting to see.
Anyways, I am off to watch the games, I will either update tonight or tomorrow morning.

Series update
Hey everyone,
oh my how I love house sitting. :] It is honestly the best thing in the world. I'm all alone at a friend of my mom's for the weekend because he is in Hamilton and didn't want to leave his dogs home alone. The freedom though and all the peace and quiet I get are amazing. That is kind of why I'm writing my blog at 1:32am. So over the last two nights the Nhl has seen two games. Yesterday was game 1 between The Sharks and The Red Wings. The Sharks proved to be victorious in
Game 1 and take a 1-0 series lead. Their next game is on Sunday May 2nd at 8pm. In the other conference, we saw game one of the Montreal Pittsburgh series tonight. It was much more of a let down then their big game 7 win against Washington because Jaroslav Halak allowed 5 goals before being replaced by carry price and the Canadians penalty kill allowed more goals a man short in the first period of tonights game then the total series against Washington. Hopefully Montreal can pull their act together for game two which goes Sunday, May 2nd at 2pm.I am still very excited for tomorrow nights game 1 in the Vancouver Chicago series. GO HAWKS GO :P
But that's all for now I am heading off to bed, if this dog will ever get off my bed. I shall post again tomorrow.
Good night all.

Nhl 2nd Round Matchups
Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been able to blog since I posted my last one, I kind of hurt my foot pretty good and have been on bed rest, mommy's orders. (:P) Tonight though, I was able to get out of bed to watch the Montreal vs Washington game 7 and let me tell you was it ever an amazing game. I cannot believe that the Canadians were able to pull out that win. It was truly one of the biggest playoff highlights so far.
The second round of the nhl playoffs will be interesting to say the least in both divisions. The second round will start tomorrow with the San Jose Sharks(1) vs Detroit Red Wings(5). Friday the Pittsburgh Penguins(4) will face the Montreal Canadians(8) who are possibly the biggest feel good story of the 2010 NHL Playoffs so far. Saturday will see the start of the other two series. In the East, the second biggest surprise by far will be the series between the Boston Bruins(6) vs the Philadelphia Flyers(7). This series comes from two big upsets from both teams. And finally the series I will be paying the most attention to because this features my favorite team the Chicago Blackhawks(2) vs. the Vancouver Canucks(3). I will update the series with a little game breakdown after every game and keep you all updated from the other games in the NHL.
That's all for now guys

Nhl Playoff matchups
Hey everyone,
Last night was an incredible night for Nhl hockey fans. The New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers had to have played the most exciting game of the 2009-2010 NHL season, but the ironic part was this was the 7th and 9th place teams fighting for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. They tied the game in regulation and forced it to a shootout all to decide this spot. It was an amazing game. The Flyers won it 2-1 in a shootout on goals by Daniel Briere and Claude Giroux. The win gives the Flyers their 34th post-season birth in 43 seasons. Pretty good record if you ask me. With the win it made the Playoff match ups final. They go as follows.
Washington Capitals(1) vs. Montreal Canadians(8)
New Jersey Devils(2) vs. Philadelphia Flyers(7)
Buffalo Sabres (3) vs. Boston Bruins(6)
Pittsburgh Penguins(4) vs. Ottawa Senators(5)
The line ups for the Eastern conference look incredible, and are shaping up for a really good entertainment factor for the Nhl viewers. Now onto the Western Conference.
San Jose Sharks(1) vs. Colorado Avalanche(8)
Chicago Blackhawks(2) vs. Nashville Predators(7)
Vancouver Canucks(3) vs. Los Angeles Kings(6)
Phoenix Coyotes(4) vs. Detroit Red Wings(5)
We are all set for another interesting playoff run this year. Personally I hope The Chicago Blackhawks win the cup because they are one of my favorite teams and have a very big depth in their team.
But for those teams not in the playoff picture, they still have golf season to look out for :) Just like those Toronto Maple Leafs :) They had a chance to get one of the next top prospects but traded it away for Phil Kessel. It will be interesting to see the Leafs team next year.
But that's all for now guys and gals, the first games go Wednesday night so I will updated you then on the favorites.

Last nights NHL Scores
Hey everyone,
I don't know if any of you watched the hockey games last night but there were 5 games on the Nhl Schedual including a couple key games for a couple teams. The New York Rangers were hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Rangers home, Madison Square Gardens. The Rangers were desperate for a win to continue their playoff push and handidly did so over the Leafs by out playing them to a 5-1 Ranger win. The second game of the night was the Detroit Red Wings against the Columbus Blue Jackets at home. Detroit was another team very desperate for a win to continue the playoff race, and did so with a nice goal by Dan Cleary late in the 3rd period. Chicago and St Louis was the thrid game and the blues showed alot of heart but could not stop one of the best teams in the west, The Blackhawks, and they proved that they were the best in the west by securing the top spot over all in the western conference with a 6-5 win over St Louis. The fourth game on the schedual was a big game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton had the chance to play spoilers for the Avalanche, who were trying to clinch the 8th and final playoff spot, but had to win by 2 goals or more. Unfortunately they were not able too but still won 5-4. This meant that The Calgary Flames had officially been eliminated from the playoff race. The last game was a tune up game for both The Phoneix Cayotes and The Nashville Predators. Both of theses teams were surprise playoff makers this year and they shocked the Nhl world with their play this year.
Now here is how the Eastern and Western conference sit.

The return of blogging.
Hey everyone,
I am glad to announce I will be once again blogging but the tides are turning on my subject. For the remainder of this year, I will blog about the playoff race for the remaing 5 games of the nhl season and continue on into the playoffs where I will cover both the Eastern and Western Conference. Blogging has been a big issue lately as my home life has been pretty stressful with a lot of different events that have left an impact on me. I have, on the other hand, made a decision to not let these things affect me no more and I am going to push myself to go on the computer once a day to post a blog about one of my facorite subjects, Hockey. Speaking of which, I played my last game of recreational organized hockey the other day. It really didn't turn out how I planned this epic " last game". To be honest with you, I played 5 shifts, scored on my first, was a presence in my next 3, and got kicked out on my 5th for a supposed "hit from behind" that never was. The kid who I hit clearly turned to avoid me and fell into the boards, ending the game for me. It wasn't what I had planned but hey, it still was my last game and I scored so who cares :P
But anyways I have other things to work on and I must get started on them so that's all for now, and this quote comes from an unknown author but really describes a true hockey player,

Oshawa Generals Vs. Kingston Frontnacs Saturday, March 6th 2010
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to give you guys all a heads up. Tonight I will be in attendance at the Oshawa game. I'm taking my little cousin for a fun night so it should be some good fun.
This is one of their last 6 games before the playoffs. Oshawa is in a tight race in the eastern conference with Sudbury having 54 points in 6th place, Peterborough having 54 points in 7th place, Niagara having 53 points in 8th place, and the Generals in a close 9th with 51 points. The way the standings work is the top 8 teams in each conference will advance to the playoffs. These next 6 games for Oshawa are incredibly crucial and they are in a must win situation every night. In their next 6, they play Kingston twice, Peterborough twice, Ottawa once, and Bellville once, who are ranked the last team in the eastern conference and could play the role of spoiler to the Gens in their last game. Oshawa's next two games are against Kingston who the lost a close one to in their last game 2-1.
Tonight is shaping up to be a good game and like i said it's the start of their do or die run. I will post the results tomorrow and a game analysis.
That's all for now,

Welcome back
Hey everyone.
Sorry about being gone for so long. I’ve had so much on my plate over the last couple weeks. Between projects and working and always having something to do it’s been hard. School is tough sometimes. Grade 12 has been so much work for me. It has been all work and not really too much play. I am having to look towards my future and always have to give 150% so I can get where I want to go once high school is done. I find that not everyone always gives all the effort they should. A good friend of mine has been doing that and trust me it's not something you want to see from your best friend. He doesn't seem to take everything really seriously even though he is so close to the finish line. I just hope soon enough he will realise what he’s doing and turn it all around.
Another thing that has been bothering me is someone important in my life is thinking of walking away from it all. This person has always been there for me, always supported me, but feels like they need to live and be free and not tied down. It hurts to hear it, trust me on that one, but I’m so confused when it comes down to it. I don't know how it’s all going to turn out and I am scared to be honest. I really don’t want to lose this person but it seems that they have made up their mind. I just wish sometimes that people would push through and see that everything isn’t always better on the other side of the fence and that they would live for today. I guess this is me just blabbing on about a stupid subject but I really feel like it’s important to me to get my opinion out there. I love this person to death and they will always be in my heart no matter what they choose but i hope they look at it from both sides before they make a decision.
That's all for now guys and gals, I shall post again soon

Deek of the week thursdays(February 18th)
Hey everyone,
I was just going to post my blog when I realised that I didn’t post my special post. I just wanted to tell everyone I was sorry I had a lot of stuff going on. But now I'm back. So here it is. Today’s deek of the week.
This deek comes from one of my all time favorite NHL players Pavel Datsyuk. He did this one on march 6th 2007 and I know it's an older one but really this is an incredible move. He leaves this goalies jock strap on the roof with this one.
Possibly one of the best shootout moves of all time
that's all for now

Photo Essay

After a long day at school, there is no better feeling then coming home. Just the thought of driving down Taunton Road makes my brain go into relax mode. I know that when I get home, I can raid my fridge for a nice cold Coke, grab a snack and head upstairs to start my evening of gaming. Now my only enemy keeping me from this comfy couch and cold pop are these pain in my rear red lights.
Once I conquered all those painful stops and turned down Mary Street to my complex, I park my van and walk up to my front door. To my surprise the door is locked. I swear my mom said she would be home. Okay, well I’ll just grab my keys and my dilemma will be over. Oh crap, where are my keys? Dang it, I must have left them in my locker. Crap, now I will have to wait for someone to come home. Who knows how long that could take!
Finally, after 24 phone calls and numerous attempts to break into my own house, my mom showed up. Not very impressed by my ways, she lets me in and asks why i don’t have my keys. I respond “I’m sorry mom it will not happen again.” I ran towards the basement for my cold pop. I crack it open and I finally feel relaxed and ready to play. I head up the stairs and arrive on the first floor, grab my bag, and then head on up to my room.
I get upstairs to my room and I throw my bag on my floor. I really don’t feel like wearing my school uniform anymore so I find the comfiest thing on my floor to put on. Turns out it was a pair of my Campus Crew track pants and my Ohio State sweater. There, I’m set. I’m all ready to go play. Just as I’m about to walk over to my games room I hear the dreaded voice yell up the stairs: “Bring down you laundry!”
Not again. Please not another interruption. Have I not gone through enough already? Must I constantly be interrupted or will I ever even play? Man good thing she’s my mother and I love her. Now should I start with a load of whites or a load of darks?
Well after finally sorting out all my laundry and getting everything ready I’m ready to play. Finally! So I grab my controller off the charger and turn on my Xbox. It goes to the loading screen, but nothing. Oh no. Where is my Modern Warfare 2? I swear it was in my Xbox. This can’t be happening.
I search high and low, thinking of every spot it could be. As a last resort, I yell down to my mom asking where it could be. She yells back to me saying: “Oh, one of the girls from my work wanted to see what it was about. So I just took it to show her. It’s in my purse if you want it.” Feeling so relieved, I run downstairs, grab it, run back up, and pop it in.
So I get the game in, much to my delight. I send a message to my friends Ahappytruffle, Dominator, Mayhem and Panzo. I ask them all if they want to play a team death match. After a bit of gun controversy, and who was going to be our team sniper, we were ready to go. Right before we were about to join a lobby, Mayhem and Dominator tell us that they are going for a smoke break. I cannot believe that I have to wait LONGER!
Smoke breaks. I cannot stand them. How can people just leave like that right in the middle of something the way they do? On top of that, why can’t they wait? Are they seriously that addicted that they must have one every 20 minutes? Well I guess it’s not my place to judge but it is frustrating. So after ten minutes, they are back and we are finally ready to play.
The game has started. It hasn’t started out very well for me though. I’m 0-5. That means I have 0 kills and 5 deaths. I cannot for the life of me kill someone. I am constantly getting knifed by people running around or sniped from far away. For something I’ve been looking forward to all day, this really is not what I had in mind. Sure I’m not the best player but come on give me a chance man.
Well after a little bit of time I finally got this figured out. I got a 5 kill streak and now it’s time to unleash the deadly force of the predator missile. I will hopefully be able to clear out some bad guys and maybe even finish my game in the positive. I’ll just have to make sure to aim at the snipers that were camping our spawn.
Ten minutes after the start of my highly awaited match, the game is over. After I got my predator missile I went on a horrible streak. I kept getting killed and I finished way in the negative and it’s far from what I was hoping for. Those gosh darn snipers would not stop killing me. Not to mention the Noob Toob kids we had on our team. Well it just goes to show what you get when you play with kids whose parents let them have everything. They must have been like 7 years old playing this game. Seriously?
After the game we go back into the lobby. Everyone is talking about the game and how well they did. I keep my mouth shut. I really do not have much to say after a horrible game like that on my part. I really sucked. Well I may as well go get my homework done so I can have the rest of the night to play. So I sign off Xbox live and head over to my desk. I check my agenda to see what I have in homework. Then I remember our English teacher assigned us a 42 page essay to write. Come to think about it, I probably will not be playing Xbox for a while now!
English Class Editorial
Hey everyone,
For my english class we had to write an editorial for one of our projects, so I decided to post it on my blog, so here it is :) enjoy
To the editor,
The other day I read in the paper that General Motors has recently announced that they have planned to build two new cars in Oshawa within the next three years. Now that arose a huge topic in my eyes that really affects us as Canadians. If GM is doing what they can to keep jobs in our country, and to be more specific, in Oshawa, why are there still so many people going out and buying foreign vehicles?
General Motors has done so much to try and attract domestic buyers and have done so much to try to help our economy, i.e. the North American built vehicles can contend or pass the foreign vehicles in gas mileage and dependability, but still there are people, even people that work for GM them selves, are going to companies like Honda, Kia, Lexus, Toyota, BMW etc. to buy their new vehicles.
General Motors was always a huge part of Oshawa. Looking back through my family, most of them have worked for GM, for someone that supplied them or had something to do with them. It goes to show how much GM really affects Oshawa families. Everyone in my family owns at least 1 GM vehicle. The reason we all do this is because we believe that we should support our local manufacturers, to promote the buying of locally made vehicles. We also believe that the more GM notices that we( by we I mean the whole community) are trying to support them, they may in turn try to help our community even more by bringing in more work which in turn makes more jobs and the cycle just keeps going.
All I am trying too say is that we aren’t helping anyone by going out and purchasing foreign vehicles, we are doing nothing to help ourselves through theses hard economic times. If we just open our eyes, make suggestions and trust in our local manufacturers, we can make this a winning cause. And so I end my letter on this note; when you go out and buy an import, your neighbour who works for GM gets laid off because they aren’t selling cars so he has no work. Are you going to going to be able to watch him struggle to put food on the table for his family and pay off his bills because you chose to buy imported?
The choice is no ones but yours!
Thank you
Fight of the week Mondays
Hey everyone, my Monday video this week comes from an up and comer young, tough guy from the Oshawa Generals. His name is Emerson Clark. He's a left winger for the Gens, he stands 5'10", he shoots left and he leads the team in penalty minutes per game with an average of 3.21 pmpg. In this video he squares of with Barrie Colts forward Dean Pawlaczyk( Try saying that one five times fast) who stands 5'11", shoots left and has a total of 78 penalty minutes this year. This one was a good tilt but Clark won it in the end.
So here it is folks, the fight of the week, hope everyone enjoys.

Deke Of The Week Thursdays
Here it is folks, the first installment of " Deke of the week",
the video comes from a young rising star by the name of Calvin De Haan
who puts in a nifty little shot against the Bellville Bulls in a shootout on December 4th 2009
De Hann isn't playing right now; he was injured on the 24th of January. He suffered a torn labrum and is scheduled to undergo surgery soon. I hope for a speedy recovery for the young defensemen.
Anyways, here's the deke of the week, a nice goal from number 24, Calvin De Haan

There were just a couple things I forgot to mention in my last post. I wanted to inform all of you that I will have two secondary "Special Posts" a week. One being on Mondays which is going to have for theme:" The hockey fights of the week" and the second will be on Thursdays and that will be “Best deke of the week". If anyone has any other ideas of what I could add to my blog, feel free to comment your suggestions.

Mission Statement
Hey everyone just wanted to put myself out there for all you guys. I go by De Haan fan 91 and this is my blog. Over the course of the next 6 months, I will be posting two blogs per week on my subject and one of my biggest hobbies, Hockey. Most of my post will be on my hometown team, The Oshawa Generals. My family has seasons tickets so I will be able to update you on the team, and their chase for the playoffs. I will also post different things from our work in class and some things that may come into my mind on a daily basis. My screen name comes from one of my favorite junior hockey players and one of my hockey idols, Calvin De Hann and in my next post I will go into more detail about him as a player.
That's all for now and at the end of every post I will post a saying that I find relative to what I have talked about.
